Two Weeks Out

Craig Johnson

As Christmas approaches, I have to admit that I’ve missed the opportunity of going out and doing the readings of the annual Walt Longmire Christmas Story at all the local libraries. It’s always fun to have those performances each holiday season with the buffalo plaid vest and kelly-green cowboy scarf I don just for those occasions. The few virtual events I’ve done are fun, but never quite as good as shaking hands with folks and personalizing their books and I hope things settle down so we can get back to that in the coming year. It’s been a tough time for everybody, and when things get tough, we kind of depend on each other, so along those lines I thought I’d record a reading of the story and have it available Christmas morning. The written version will also be in your inbox just in case you don’t want to look at my mug, but I promise to do my best even though it won’t be of George Guidall caliber. This year’s story, Musical Chairs, is a light-hearted one, suited for the times, and if you’re receiving this Post-It Newsletter, then chances are it’ll get to you via email of social media. If not, then be sure to check your filters and spam folders in that with the larger files that hold the short story, they sometimes get lost in the electronic mail. I get a lot of requests on Christmas morning to re- send, and re-send, and re-send, only to have folks discover five copies in their spam folder. Also, if there are people you think might enjoy this year’s story, send them over to website to sign up for the Post-It Newsletter so that they can get it, too. Two weeks out and we’ve caught up on all the personalized copies of the books, so we’re able to take more orders of Next To Last Stand or the Christmas novella, Spirit Of Steamboat, or any of the other Walt Longmire novels. So, if you’ve got somebody in mind who would like a signed or personalized book, we’re coming down to the wire in getting them to you by the holiday… use one of the previous links or check out the Store at www.craigallenjohnson.com. We also have limited copies of Lou Diamond Phillip’s book, The Tinder Box: Soldier of Indira, available with exclusively signed bookplates and I used to think I had pretty artistic handwriting, but Lou pretty much leaves me in the dust. Call 307-425-1020 from 10 to 5 Mountain Time which is the Bucking Buffalo Supply Co., and we will take your order. I hope this pre-holiday newsletter finds all of you healthy, wealthy, and wise -- and I look forward to checking in at Christmas with my buffalo plaid vest and kelly-green scarf.
